Today, our sport administration class went to the Georgia Tech recreational facility and to the Georgia Dome. First we went to Georgia Tech where we got to see many of the neat things that their recreation facility has to offer. Jonathan Hart gave us a tour around the building and told us some really interesting facts about the facility, such as how they averaged 600,000 visitors in their first year. They have a 35 foot rock climbing wall, 15,000 sq. ft. fitness center and 50 Meter competition pool with a high dive. We then went up stairs to look at the auxiliary gyms. One of the gyms is a multipurpose gymnasium that allows students to play basketball, volleyball, or badminton. The other gym is an indoor inline soccer and roller hockey court. After I got done taking some pictures we all went down stairs to take one last picture with Jonathan before we headed to the CNN center to eat some lunch and made our way to Georgia Dome. We got to the Georgia Dome we were greeted by the tour guide. He gave us a tour through the whole Georgia Dome. We started the tour at the very top of the stadium where the Coordinators sit, it was quite a view. We then went to the Media lounge were all the big sports writers write their stories about the game. I thought it was really cool when we got to see the suite and the super suites. I was able to get some really good pictures since I probably won’t be to get in a suite any time soon. Afterward we went to the Atlanta Falcons locker room where we got to see the layout of where everyone sits and changes to get ready for the game. I found out the color of the visitors team locker room is pink and periwinkle to throw the visiting team off balance while they are getting ready for the game. We finally were able to go out onto the field and walk around. It was one of the greatest experiences I have had. I could just imagine having 70,000 fans screaming at you or cheering you on. It was an amazing site. We conclude the visit with some more pictures then said our thank you and headed back to Reinhardt. It was a pretty fun day.
