guest speaker : Vic Mitchell

Today, Vic Mitchell from Shorter University came to our class and spoke to us about coaching and the administrative world that he lives in. Coach Mitchell is the women’s basketball coach at Shorter where he has coached for twenty years. During his years at the University of Georgia, Mitchell was a manager during school and an assistant coach when he graduated for the men's basketball team, which in 1983 advanced to the Final Four. Vic was also a part of the 1981-1982 squad that reached the Final Four as well. Before he  accepted the job he saw daily practices at Georgia and soon got used running a basketball program. I think it’s really interesting how after he finished UGA his first job was at Reinhardt where he coached for six years before leaving. Coach Mitchell told us that it is very important for whatever field we decide to work in that we stay connected with people and  work with them. Coach Mitchell aslo told us how we should research the job surroundings and see what your role is in with the school or facility. I really enjoyed this guest speaker because I love to hear about the journeys they endured and to see what they have been through in the past.
