In my Sport in Society class, we watched a video about deviance in sports. The video was a 30 for 30 espn video about O.J. Simpson and the issues that surrounded him off in life. In 1994 O.J. was accused of murder against his wife and waiter that his wife was having an affair with. The video describes all the the things that were going on that day. Arnold Palmers last game of golf in competition. The New Your Rangers won the Stanley cup and had a parade in New York City. The Nba Finals were going on while the chase for O.J. Simpson was hot on almost every news channel. I dont really remember that day very well, but i do know it was a very distracting day in the world sports. O.J. Simpson may have been deviant off the feild but while on the feild he was a famous icon to many people. In situation like steriods or gambling, deviance in sports has been a big issue in sports society. Mark Mcguire, Sammy Sosa, Bary Bonds were all big names in the late 90's and were all deviant bevause of the use of steriods.
We hear it on the news alot on ESPN with the Ohio State Players or players who are geeting them selves into trouble. It is a big issue in our society
